Junior Coleman, also known as 'CJ,' has been charged with the murder of O'Neil Spencer at a wake in St. Catherine. The incident left one dead and several injured. The police arrested and charged Navado Lyons, alleged leader of the Bentley Lane Gang in Kingston, under the anti-gang act. Lyons controlled the community and allegedly ordered beatings and murders. In St James, police arrested Jermaine McKenzie, suspected of multiple murders, and recovered firearms. Additionally, a British woman was charged with cocaine possession at the airport. In Ocho Rios, a shooting occurred at the White River area.

The authorities charged three men with the brutal rape and murder of 15-year-old Jamelia Cole at her home in Trelawny on August 6, 2023. Also, a suspected intruder was fatally shot by licensed firearm holder in Mandeville.

Jamaican police have charged Fitzroy Taylor with the murder of Marlon Newsome, along with other firearm-related offenses. The altercation resulted in Newsome being shot and killed at his home. OUR Directive: JPS Instructed to Reduce Selected Customers’ Bills.
The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) has directed the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) to lower bills for some customers due to concerns about high electricity charges. JPS is asked to reduce bills in September 2024 and reissue August bills with zero consumption but no corresponding zero charge. Energy Minister Daryl Vaz is optimistic about JPS presenting a proposal to address the issue.
