Police Charged Trelawny Men with Rape and Murder of 15-Year-Old Schoolgirl.

TRELAWNY, Jamaica: The authorities charged three men with the brutal rape and murder of 15-year-old Jamelia Cole at her home in Trelawny on August 6, 2023.

The three accused are:

Timoy ‘Big Red’ Brown, age 23, is a farmer from the Cotton Tree district, Trelawny. The police charged Brown in February 2024 with misprision of a felony for failing to report the incident. Next, Tyrese Brown, also called ‘Sheetsman,’ 22, from Albert Town, and 20-year-old Jabean Brock, also known as ‘Nuko,’ a laborer from Stettin district, Trelawny.

The police charged the men with being part of a criminal organization, conspiracy to commit burglary, aiding and abetting burglary, capital murder, wounding with intent, causing grievous bodily harm to commit murder, burglary with intent, and rape.

The allegation stated that at about 7 a.m. on August 6, 2023, the three men allegedly forcibly entered a home occupied by four women in Albert Town through a kitchen window.

During the invasion, the burglars allegedly struck three of the women on the head with a blunt object, rendering them unconscious.

The fourth occupant, a 9-year-old girl, awoke to the commotion and contacted her father.

The father reportedly instructed her to seek help from neighbors. The neighbors alerted the police.

A police team responded swiftly and found three unconscious women inside the house.

Later, they discovered the body of Jamelia Cole, 15, allegedly raped, beaten, and tied up in a yam field near her home.

The police transported the victims to the hospital. The authorities pronounced Cole dead and admitted the others for treatment.

The police stated that they apprehended Tyrese Brown on August 19, 2024. He was driving a stolen motor vehicle.

The police arrested Timoy Brown and Jabean Brock in their respective communities. Law enforcement formally charged them on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

Trelawny Criminal Investigation Branch urged anyone with information to contact the police.

The police have yet to decide on a court date for the accused.

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica: Police confirmed that hoodlums shot and killed a man as he attended a wake for his grandmother in Johnson Pen, St Catherine, early Sunday morning.

The police identified the deceased as George Joseph, 36, a construction worker from Johnson Pen, St. Catherine.

The police said the tragic incident unfolded at around 12:50 a.m. in the Johnson Pen community.

Joseph was attending a wake in honor of his late grandmother, Desline William, when gunshots disrupted the proceedings.

When the shooting ceased, residents found Joseph suffering from a gunshot wound to the left side of his face.

Residents reportedly rushed him to the Spanish Town Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.

The police have yet to prove a motive for the killing.

Detectives from the Spanish Town CIB are investigating.

TRELAWNY, Jamaica: Police formally charged a suspect who allegedly stabbed a man during a fight at a Trelawny hotel.

The authorities identified the accused as Ajay Demetrius, 21, a chef from Prosper Hall in the Exchange district of Ocho Rios, St. Ann. The police charged him with wounding with intent.

According to the Falmouth police, at about 11:15 p.m. on August 21, 2024, both men were at a hotel in the parish.

Then, they got embroiled in a heated argument that turned physical.

During the melee, Demetrius allegedly used a knife and stabbed the complainant in the lower abdomen.

The police responded and transported the injured man to the hospital for treatment.

Later, the police launched an investigation and arrested Demetrius. The arresting officer formally charged him on Friday, August 23, 2024.

Demetrius’ court appearance date is pending.

MANCHESTER, Jamaica: The Mandeville Police disclosed that a licensed firearm holder shot and killed an alleged intruder in Ingleside in Mandeville, Manchester, on Saturday, Aug 24, 2024.

Residents reportedly told Observer Online that at about 6:00 p.m., the firearm holder returned to his home and saw the intruder inside. The intruder allegedly attacked the firearm holder with a knife and a hammer.

Residents said the firearm holder opened fire on the intruder. The injured man then ran from the house.

Residents said that, at about 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, they had searched the bushes near Ingleside Boulevard. During the search, they found a body fitting the description of the intruder.

The Mandeville police are investigating the incident.
