KINGSTON, Jamaica: The police arrested and charged the alleged leader of the notorious Bentley Lane Gang from Rose Town, Kingston.
The authorities identified the accused as Navado Lyons, o/c ‘Gwaan Bad’ or ‘Bad,’ 37, a Bentley Lane, Kingston 13 resident.
The police charged Lyons under the anti-gang act. The charges are:
Being the leader of a criminal organization.
Participating in a criminal organization.
According to the police, Lyons surrendered during an operation in the Rose Town community.
Kingston Western police confirmed that they have arrested several members of the gang in connection to the surge in murders and shootings in Rose Town.
The police said Lyons assumed control over the Bentley Lane Gang in November 2020 and had total control of the Bentley Lane community.
The police said Lyons decided who lived where in the community. He reportedly used his authority to move residents based on their loyalty to the gang.
He has reportedly used threats of violence to instill fear and guarantee compliance.
According to the police, the accused often ordered the gang members to beat or discipline people who violated the gang’s rules in the community.
Moreover, the accused, along with Kewani Howell, o/c ‘Roy’ and Nijay Wright, alias ‘Mad Head,’ were reportedly involved in the murder of Charles Davis and Maurice Williams. Both were shot and killed on October 22 last year along Duff Street in Rose Town.
That incident is said to be a reprisal for the killing of a member of the Bentley Lane Gang.
Police Nab ‘Gio,’ St James Most Wanted Suspect.
ST JAMES, Jamaica: Law enforcement officials reported that the police arrested a suspect they described as St James police most wanted.

The authorities identified the suspect as Joseph McKenzie, o/c ‘Gio.’ The police said they apprehended McKenzie during an operation at Harvey Beach, Rose Hall, on Sunday evening.
Superintendent Eron Samuels confirmed that McKenzie is wanted for several murders and shootings in the parish, especially the Flower Hill and Flanker communities.
The police reportedly recovered a Glock pistol from the suspect during the operation.
Additionally, the police reported that they recovered two high-powered rifles on Monday, August 26, 2024. The police made the seizure during an Operation Storm exercise in Gordon Crescent, St James.
Also, officers seized 22 rounds of 5.7mm ammunition in the operation.
Superintendent Samuels stated that these developments represent a significant success for the police and the communities they serve.
British Woman Rachael Quayle Charged for $45M Cocaine Bust at Montego Bay Airport.
ST JAMES, Jamaica: On Wednesday, August 21, law enforcement officers busted a British woman with more than $45 million worth of cocaine at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.

The police charged Rachael Quayle, 28, with possession, dealing in, attempting to export, and conspiracy to export cocaine.
The allegations stated that on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, Quayle attempted to board a flight to the United Kingdom.
When agents searched her luggage, they allegedly found 9.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed in an assortment of food items.
The police arrested Quale and formally charged her after an interview in the presence of her attorney.
Shooting Incident at White River.
Detectives in Ocho Rios are closely monitoring the activities at the White River area, particularly the rafting facility, after a violent incident on Monday morning.

A man was targeted and shot while at a bar in the area, as confirmed by the police.
The assailant arrived, ordered a drink, and then promptly drew a firearm, shooting the victim in the vicinity of the mouth.
Later, the perpetrator fled the scene and escaped in a waiting vehicle, which quickly departed. The injured individual received assistance and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
