Jamaican Man Extradited to US for Wire Fraud Targeting California Woman.
US law enforcement officials have reported the extradition of a Jamaican national to the United States in connection with his involvement in a fraudulent scheme targeting a California woman.

The accused, Dwayne Anderson, 35, from Hanover, has been indicted on eight counts of federal wire fraud in the US District Court for the District of South Dakota in February 2023.
After being extradited to the United States on August 22, the indictment against Anderson was unsealed. If convicted, he faces a penalty of 20 years for each count.
Jamaican authorities arrested Anderson in response to a US extradition demand.
The indictment alleges that Anderson participated in a scheme to defraud an American woman by falsely informing her that she had won millions of dollars in sweepstakes using fictitious names through telephone calls, text messages, and emails. He then convinced the victim to send money to pay various fees and taxes.
According to the authorities, Anderson continuously contacted the victim with extra requests for money, falsely assuring her that her winnings would be received upon payment of the requested fee.
He even induced the victim to travel to Jamaica in September 2017 by falsely promising her that she would collect her prize winnings, instructing her to bring US$1,600 in cash and hand it to a driver who met her at the airport. The victim paid the fees but never received any winnings.
The US Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) investigated the case, with critical assistance provided by the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
