ST ANDREW, Jamaica: Police have formally charged a man in connection with the Blue Mountain, Red Hills, St Andrew murder on August 20, 2024.
The authorities identified the accused as Fitzroy Taylor, also known as ‘Kenroy,’ aged 29, a mason from a Blue Mountain, Red Hills St. Andrew address.
Detectives charged Taylor with the murder of Marlon Newsome, aged 36. The police also charged him with using a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to the allegations, the incident unfolded at about 7:00 a.m. on August 20, 2024. Newsome was at home on his verandah when an altercation broke out between him and Taylor.
During the melee, Taylor allegedly used a firearm and shot Newsome several times.
The police responded and transported Newsome to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
Law enforcement launched an investigation that led to Taylor’s arrest.
The police charged him on August 23, 2024, after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
Taylor’s court date is pending.
Fatal St Andrew Shooting: Two Men Indicted for Murder.
The St Andrew North Police indicted two men for murder and multiple firearm breaches in connection to the Golden Spring, St Andrew, shooting on Aug 12.
The police identified the deceased as Christopher McKenzie, o/c ‘Youth,’ 50, a vendor from Mount Pleasant in St Andrew.
The police named the accused Akeem Gooden, o/c ‘Slippers Man,’ 24, a taxi operator from 3 East Greater Portmore, St Catherine, and 24-year-old Markeon Slater, o/c ‘Tulloch,’ a laborer from Cassava Piece in Kingston.

According to the Stony Hill Police, the incident occurred at about 12:12 a.m. on Aug 12, 2024. McKenzie reportedly was at his stall. Two armed men alighted from a Toyota Voxy motor car. One of the men opened gunfire on McKenzie, striking him multiple times.
As the gunmen attempted to flee the scene, a nearby police patrol intercepted them.
The cops accosted the men and searched the vehicle and its occupants. During the search, the police recovered one Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with an empty magazine.
Then, the police processed the scene and transported McKenzie to the hospital, where the medical staff pronounced him dead.
Later, the authorities indicted the accused for murder, using a firearm to commit a felony, and possession of a prohibited.
Their court dates are pending.
