ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica: The police reported that unknown assailants shot and killed a couple along Mango Walk Lane in Mountainside, St Elizabeth, Friday morning.
Superintendent Coleridge Minto said the incident occurred at about 3:45 a.m. on Friday, Aug 23, 2024.
Preliminary reports revealed that the female was a Montego Bay Craft Market vendor. And the couple met their demise as they walked along the lane.
Residents heard explosions, stumbled upon the bodies, and summoned the police to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of the female lying face-down. The police found the body of the spouse meters away in the bushes.
According to Superintendent Minto, the community is not known for violent crimes. He urged persons with information that can help the investigation to contact the police.
Further, he stated that persons with information can call 119, Crime Stop at 311, or the Black River police.
The investigation is ongoing.
Assault and Attempted Rape Case in Clarendon, Jamaica.
CLARENDON, Jamaica: Police arrested and charged a man after he allegedly broke into a woman’s house as she slept. Then, he attempted to undress her.
Law enforcement identified the accused as Denmark Cole, age 28, a construction worker.

The police charged Cole with assault with intent to rape and burglary.
The May Pen police stated that at about 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, Aug 22, 2024, the complainant awoke and found the accused struggling to remove her shorts.
She reportedly jumped up and saw Cole with his underpants in his hand. She raised the alarm, and Cole left the room, begging her not to tell anyone.
The complainant reported the matter to her aunt, who took her to the police station, where she filed a report.
The police visited the crime scene and confirmed that Cole had entered the woman’s dwelling through an opened window.
Cole’s court appearance date is pending.
Soldier Fatally Shot in Downtown Kingston Altercation.
KINGSTON, Jamaica: A soldier was fatally shot during an altercation with armed individuals. This incident took place at the intersection of Charles Street and Chestnut Lane in Kingston, in the early hours of Friday morning, August 23, 2024.

Around 1:25 a.m., a military patrol on foot encountered a group of suspicious individuals.
The individuals reportedly fired upon the soldiers, who responded defensively and engaged in a firefight.
After the exchange, one soldier sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his face.
His fellow soldiers transported him to Kingston Public Hospital, where he was declared deceased.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is conducting an inquiry into the event.
Portland Man Faces Charges for Machete Attack on Brother.
PORTLAND, Jamaica: Police charged a Portland man after he allegedly inflicted multiple chop wounds on his brother during a dispute.

The authorities identified the accused as Ian Brown, 43, a laborer from Toms Hope in Portland. The police charged him with wounding with intent.
The Port Antonio Police stated that on Aug 18, 2024, the accused and his brother got into an altercation that turned physical.
During the melee, Brown allegedly used a machete and inflicted several chop wounds on the complainant.
Citizens in the Toms Hope Community rushed the victim to the hospital, where the authorities treated and released him.
The complainant filed a report with the police, and the police launched an investigation.
They later arrested and formally charged Brown. His court date is pending.
