Cherry Tree Lane Massacre: ‘Snowman’ and ‘Bands’ Charged with Multiple Offenses.

Cops Charged Mandela Highway Robber and Murder Suspect. On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, cops in St. Catherine, Jamaica, charged a suspect with the alleged robbery and fatal shooting that occurred along the St. Catherine section of the Mandela Highway on June 11. Authorities identified the suspect as Nicholas Bhalai, o/c, 'Coolie Bap,' 24, a laborer of Ferry, district, in St Catherine, Jamaica.

CLARENDON, Jamaica: Investigators assigned to the May Pen Police have confirmed the arrest and charging of two men linked to the Cherry Tree Lane Massacre.

Police have identified the accused as Dushane Smalling, alias ‘Snowman’, aged 28, of North Street, May Pen in Clarendon, and 32-year-old Leighton Whyte, also known as ‘Bands’.

The police have charged the accused men with eight counts of murder, nine counts of wounding with the use of a firearm, nine counts of shooting with intent, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The allegation states that, at approximately 8:45 p.m. on August 11, 2024, armed men, including the accused, invaded a party in Cherry Tree Lane. The men then unleashed a barrage of gunshots on the crowd before escaping the area in a motor car.

The police responded and found several persons suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Hospital authorities pronounced eight persons dead on arrival and admitted nine.

On Tuesday, August 13, Smalling and Whyte surrendered to the police with their attorney. The police formally charged them on Wednesday, August 22, after a question-and-answer session.

Their court appearance date is pending.

CLARENDON, Jamaica: The police formally charged a Clarendon man after he allegedly raped the complainant, who reportedly had been drunk from alcohol consumption. The police said the incident occurred in Bushy Park Clarendon on Aug 6, 2024.

The authorities identified the accused as Orlando Campbell, age 20, a student from Mocho in Clarendon.
Campbell faces charges of rape and indecent assault.
The May Pen police stated that the complainant and a friend went on a trip on the day of the incident. While on the trip, she met Campbell, an acquaintance of her friend.
Upon returning from the trip, she and the accused reportedly consumed alcohol, and she became drunk and fell asleep.
Later, she woke up at home and allegedly found Campbell assaulting her.
The complainant filed a report with the May Pen police. The police launched an investigation. Campbell would later surrender to the police in the company of his lawyer.
The police formally charged Campbell on Wednesday, Aug 21, 2024.
His court appearance date is pending.

MANCHESTER, Jamaica: The police started a search for a man after he allegedly used a hammer and physically assaulted a Chinese supermarket operator in Christiana, Manchester on Wednesday.

Police said at about 10:00 a.m. on August 14, the businessman accused the suspect of shoplifting, and an altercation ensued.

The altercation turned physical, and two other persons joined the fray. The suspect retreated.

But, hours later, at about 1:16 p.m., the suspect reportedly returned to the scene and attacked the Chinese businessman with a hammer, delivering several blows to the neck before escaping.

The police responded and launched an investigation.

Hospital authorities admitted the businessman.

The investigation is ongoing.
