St. Elizabeth Police Charged Two Caught with Guns in Vehicle

Gun Bust Raid Nets 16 Guns and 250 Rounds in Kingston. The police have reported the seizure of 16 firearms. They also seized over 250 rounds of ammunition from a warehouse on Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston. This occurred last Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

St. Elizabeth Police charged two suspects they arrested Friday outside a bar along Gutters Main Road in St. Elizabeth. Officers said the men were occupants of a car from which they recovered two guns and ammunition.

The authorities identified the suspects as Sean Reid, o/c ‘Sojie,’ 35, and Ramanno Smile, 30, an electrician of Knockpatrick, Manchester.

Both suspects face charges of possession of prohibited weapons and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

According to reports, at about 2:00 p.m., a police team accosted the suspects as they sat in a Nissan AD Wagon parked in front of a bar.

While searching the vehicle, the police found a brown bag inside the console. When the officers opened the bag, they reportedly found two firearms–a Beretta 9mm pistol and a Sig Sauer pistol. Plus, a magazine containing 21 rounds.

Both men were arrested and later charged.

Their court dates are pending.

Police seized two firearms and arrested several persons during multiple operations in the St. Elizabeth Police Division on Thursday.

Superintendent Coleridge Minto, head of the division, said the operations began at 3 a.m. and were conducted across town centers and several hotspot communities. 

Minto said the police are conducting vehicle checkpoints, targeted raids, roadblocks, and other operational activities across the parish.

He said the police had issued 160 tickets, seized 11 motor vehicles, and seized two motorcycles.

In addition, he said one targeted raid was conducted in the Gutters area, where two firearms were recovered from a vehicle.

Seven people have been arrested.

“I want to assure the citizens of this parish that we will continue our operational activities to ensure that the parish remains a safe one, and these operations will continue throughout the weekend,” said the superintendent. 

Other crime news. In Linstead St. Catherine, police confirmed the shooting of a woman by unknown assailants as she walked home from work.

The police said the senseless shooting occurred at about 6:50 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024.

Reportedly, the woman was walking along Bassida Lane in Linstead when the gunmen opened fire, hitting her.

The injured woman, 22, a call center representative, was assisted to the hospital for treatment.

The Linstead CIB is investigating the incident.
