Fatal Police Shooting: Police Arrested in Triple Murder case

Fatal Police Shooting: Police Arrested in Triple Murder case. Law enforcement officials have ordered the arrest of two police officers involved in the fatal police shooting of three men on Windward Road in Kingston. Reportedly, the deadly shooting unfolded on November 10, 2024.

According to the Corporate Communications Unit of the JCF, the authorities issued the order based on intelligence received.

Both men remain in custody pending the outcome of the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) probe.

The CCU said the officers involved in the fatal shooting operated from the Kingston East police division.

Further, the CCU said the officers reported they were on patrol along Windward Road on the day in question. Upon reaching a section of the roadway, they encountered a group of men.

Law enforcement accosted the suspects, who opened gunfire at the police. Fearing for their lives, the officers returned gunfire and fatally neutralized all three men.

One member of the patrol sustained a non-life-threatening injury. The police reportedly recovered two illegal firearms from the scene.

The Police High Command said it fully supports members who act within the law in executing their duties and is committed to accountability.

Also, it assured the public that it is committed to supporting thorough and impartial investigations by INDECOM.

Charges Filed in Maggotty Supermarket Murder Case

In other news. Law enforcement officers in St Elizabeth arrested and charged two suspects regarding the October 19 murder and robbery at a supermarket in Maggotty, St Elizabeth.

Police identified the deceased as Aggrey Atkinson, 62, a businessman from Russell Hill district in St Elizabeth.

Investigators identified the suspects as Ramanno Smile, 30, an electrician, and Shawn Reid, 35. Both suspects are residents of Knock Patrick in Manchester.

Both men face charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with aggravation, and possession of a prohibited weapon. The police also charged the suspects with unauthorized possession of ammunition. Their court dates are being

According to the allegations, on October 19, the men entered a supermarket in Maggotty and posed as customers.

Then, one of the men brandished a handgun, and the other stood at the door as the lookout.

The man with the gun allegedly jumped the counter and robbed the owner of an undetermined amount of phone cards, cigarettes, and money.

During the ordeal, the gunman shot and killed Atkinson before escaping in a waiting motorcar.

The police responded and launched an investigation.

On Thursday, November 14, detectives from St Elizabeth, CIB, apprehended the suspects during an operation. The police also allegedly recovered two illegal firearms.

The suspect’s court appearance date is pending.
