KINGSTON, Jamaica —According to reporting, on Friday night, September 29, 2023, a woman from the Grants Pen Road community in St Andrew was reportedly shot in the head by thugs in Seaview Gardens.
Unconfirmed street reports indicated that the thugs abducted the woman before shooting her. The victim is currently in the hospital in serious condition.
The Grants Pen community has seen an uptick in violence in recent weeks. Thugs in a car shot and killed two men in a drive-by shooting in the neighborhood on Monday, September 25, 2023. The police have since arrested four suspects concerning that incident.
Two days before Monday’s double murder, thugs shot and killed David Clarke, brother of popular Dancehall artiste Jashii. Another man was shot and injured in the incident.
On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, law enforcement authorities imposed a 48-hour curfew in specific sections of the community.
Grants Pen man charged after gun, ammo discovered in suitcase
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police reportedly arrested and charged a suspect with breaches of the Firearms Act following the seizure of a Taurus 9mm pistol and twelve 9mm cartridges during an operation in the Grants Pen community on September 24, 2023.
The police charged 30-year-old Coye Williams, o/c ‘Keenan’ or ‘Active’, age 30, from Oddman Lane in Grants Pen, with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition and possession of assorted parts of a prohibited weapon.
The police found the weapon in a suitcase in a house occupied by the suspect. His court appearance date is pending.
Police charged a Clarendon man following a gun and ammo seizure.
TRELAWNY, Jamaica— On Thursday, September 28, 2023, police arrested and charged a suspect with breaches of the Firearms Act following a firearm and ammunition seizure at a traffic stop during an operation in Race Course, Trelawny.
The police charged Romaine Foster, age 32, of Kyle District in Spaulding, Clarendon, with possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition.
According to the Falmouth police, at about 2:00 p.m., during an operation in the Race Course community, the police stopped and searched a White Toyota Mark X motorcar. During the search, the police found a Taurus 9mm pistol and five 9mm rounds in the vehicle.
The police arrested Foster and subsequently charged him after an interview.
His court date is pending.
