Law enforcement officials have charged two members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) in separate incidents. These incidents involve alleged unlawful wounding and assault.

These charges came after the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) completed its investigations and submitted its findings to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

Law enforcement has identified the accused men as constables Christonajae Ellis and Abian Wilson.

Ellis appeared before the Hanover Parish Court on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Meanwhile, Wilson appeared before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, October 21.

The police charged Ellis with unlawful wounding in connection with an incident that occurred in Flint River, Hanover, on July 16, 2024.

According to law enforcement, the complainant alleges that Constable Ellis used his firearm to inflict a wound on his face that required stitches. However, Constable Ellis claims that he acted in self-defense.

The court referred both law enforcement officers and complainants for mediation

The court has referred both Constable Ellis and the complainant to the restorative justice system for mediation. The authorities have scheduled the parties to return to court on December 8. If mediation is unsuccessful, the trial will proceed.
