On Monday, July 22, 2024, law enforcement authorities in Mandeville, Manchester, pressed charges against a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Greenvale on July 18.
The accused has been identified as 40-year-old Bryan Bartley, a resident of Bethel Street in Greenvale, Manchester.
Bartley faces charges of murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Kenroy Gordon, also a resident of Bethel Street in Manchester.
According to the Mandeville police, the tragic incident unfolded on Thursday, July 18, 2024, around 7:20 p.m. Gordon and Bartley were walking in the community when Bartley allegedly brandished a firearm and fatally shot Gordon.
Gordon was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but sadly succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Bartley was apprehended by law enforcement shortly after the incident and formally charged on Monday, July 22, 2024. The date of his court appearance is pending.
Fatal Motorcycle Accident in St Thomas Results in One Death and One Hospitalized.
A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning on the Lloyd’s Pen main road in Yallahs, St. Thomas, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old road construction worker, Lamar Allen, of Bayshore, Harbour View in St. Andrew, and leaving his pillion rider in serious condition.

Reports indicate that at around 8:10 am, two motorcyclists were traveling east towards Morant Bay when one of them overtook a vehicle at a corner, leading to a collision with a grey Toyota Hiace bus traveling in the opposite direction.
Despite the bus driver’s attempt to avoid the collision, the motorcyclist collided with the vehicle, causing the bus to veer off the road and into a ditch.
Tragically, the motorcyclist lost his life at the scene, while his pillion rider was rushed to the hospital by fire personnel from the Yallahs Fire Station. The bus driver and a passenger sustained minor injuries in the collision.
An eyewitness, who was a passenger, shared the frightening experience, emphasizing the bus driver’s efforts to avoid the crash but ultimately ending up in the ditch.
Handyman charged with attempted rape and unlawful wounding.
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica— A man has been charged by the police for allegedly breaking into a woman’s house in Lacovia Housing Scheme in St Elizabeth on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, and attempting to rape her at knifepoint.
The accused, identified as 25-year-old Harvel Grant, a handyman from the Reading district, Lacovia, in St Elizabeth, is facing charges of burglary, assault with intent to rape, and unlawful wounding.
According to authorities, Grant entered the woman’s house without permission at around 3:27 a.m. and allegedly held a knife to her throat while demanding sexual favors. A struggle ensued, resulting in Grant inflicting several wounds on the woman before fleeing the scene.
Following the victim’s report, the police launched an investigation, leading to Grant’s arrest on Friday, July 19, 2024, and subsequent charges being filed against him.
His court appearance date is currently pending.
Gardener from St Catherine Faces Charges for Stabbing Incident.
The Bog Walk police have charged a suspect from St Catherine with aggravated assault and wounding with intent following a stabbing incident on July 20, 2024. The suspect is identified as Jason Hines, a 44-year-old gardener from West Prospect, Bog Walk, St Catherine.
According to the Bog Walk police, around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, the complainant confronted Hines regarding an outstanding debt. During the altercation, it is alleged that Hines drew a knife and stabbed the complainant.
Local residents helped transport the wounded individual to the hospital, where he was admitted for medical care.
Subsequently, residents detained Hines and turned him over to the authorities. The police formally charged him on Tuesday, July 23.
Hines is scheduled to appear at the St Catherine Parish Court on Wednesday, July 31.
