KINGSTON, Jamaica– Three men, whom the authorities believe are gun traffickers, were arrested and charged following the seizure of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition on Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston on Thursday, November 23.
The police charged each man with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, trafficking of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a prohibited weapon with the intent to traffic.
The authorities named the suspects as Nicholas Freeman, o/c ‘Nicko,’ age 29, of Trinidad Road, Kingston 11; Ryan Morrison, o/c ‘Alfred,’ age 23, a construction worker of Belvedere District in St Andrew, and Akeem Moore, o/c ‘Brown Chops,’ age 21, of Steer Town St Ann, and Pleasant Heights in Rockfort, Kingston 2.
According to the Denham Town police, at about 6:30 am, law enforcement officers conducted an operation on Marcus Garvey Drive, Kingston, where they searched a blue Toyota Yaris motorcar with the three men on board. During the search, the officers found a Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing six cartridges and a .38 revolver containing six cartridges inside the motor car.
The police took the three men into custody and subsequently charged them after a question-and-answer session on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
Their court appearance date is pending.
