Judge sentenced Security guard to two months in prison for stealing pineapples.

A security guard received a two-month prison sentence for stealing pineapples but was released immediately due to time served.

A St Catherine Parish Court judge has sentenced a security guard from St. Catherine to two months in prison for stealing pineapples from the farm where he was employed.

Authorities have identified the disgraced security guard as Nicholas Hadlam. Acting Senior Parish Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle handed down the sentence in the St. Catherine Parish Court on Friday.

However, Hadlam, who lives in Bog Walk, will not spend a day in prison. The judge has credited him with the two months he spent in custody while awaiting trial. As a result, law enforcement officials released him shortly after the judge imposed the sentence.

Still before Hadlam walked free, Judge Nelson-Gayle issued a stern warning to him, advising him to change his ways and refrain from dishonesty.

The incident occurred on July 22, when Hadlam was on duty at the pineapple farm owned by Trade Winds Limited. A company supervisor observed him picking pineapples and placing them into a bag. Initially, Hadlam denied the theft but later confessed to it.
