OLD HARBOR BAY, ST CATHERINE, Jamaica–Gumshoes assigned to the Old Harbour Bay Police Station are actively conducting a manhunt for a dangerous criminal who allegedly committed a heinous murder at a local bar in the Old Harbour fishing village in St. Catherine on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
The victim has been identified as Donovan Colin Taylor, also known as ‘Dan Man’, a 36-year-old fisherman residing on Narine Lane, Old Harbour Bay, St. Catherine.
According to eyewitness accounts, at approximately 6:30 pm, Taylor was socializing with fellow patrons at a bar in the Old Harbour Bay fishing village when an armed assailant approached him and unleashed a barrage of gunfire, fatally injuring Taylor in the upper body. After committing the horrific act, the perpetrator swiftly fled the scene on foot.
In a desperate attempt to save Taylor’s life, a family member rushed him to the May Pen Hospital. However, despite their efforts, medical professionals pronounced him deceased upon arrival.
As of now, the authorities have yet to determine a motive for this senseless act of violence. During the preliminary investigation, two spent 9mm casings were found at the crime scene, providing crucial evidence for the ongoing inquiry. The police are diligently working to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
Arrest and Seizure of Firearm and Ammunition in St Elizabeth, Jamaica
On the night of Wednesday, December 13, 2023, law enforcement officers in St. Elizabeth took decisive action, apprehending three individuals and confiscating a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol along with six rounds of ammunition. The operation unfolded when a team of vigilant police officers intercepted a Toyota Voxy motor van transporting three men on the Maggotty main road.
A thorough search of the vehicle exposed the presence of the illicit firearm and ammunition. It became evident, upon closer examination, that the van had sustained multiple bullet holes, suggesting prior involvement in dangerous activities. Moreover, one of the suspects had sustained gunshot wounds, requiring immediate medical attention.
In light of the situation, hospital authorities admitted the injured suspect for necessary treatment, ensuring his temporary confinement under vigilant police guard. The other two individuals were promptly placed in custody for further questioning and investigation. As a precautionary measure, the police have chosen to withhold the release of the suspects’ identities at this point.
