Recent Legal Troubles: School Principal and Attorney Charged. George Moodie, the principal of Grateful Hill Primary School and a former Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) councilor, is now facing legal trouble. Law enforcement formally charged him with assault occasioning bodily harm. This follows allegations that he physically assaulted a student.
Recent legal troubles: School principal charged with assault on student
According to investigators from the St. Catherine North Police Division, Moodie’s recent legal troubles reportedly occurred in March on the school’s grounds. The alleged victim is a male student who has since been receiving counseling.
Reportedly, individuals close to the victim reported the matter to the police in April 2025. They also contacted the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA).
As a result, the relevant authorities launched separate investigations, which led to Moodie’s arrest and formal charge.
His court appearance date is pending.
Moodie has not publicly commented on the recent legal troubles surrounding him.
The Ministry of Education and Youth has also not released an official statement. But, sources indicate that internal reviews may be underway.
Kingston Attorney Faces Charges for Client Fraud
Prominent Kingston lawyer hit with legal troubles. The Fraud Squad Division’s police arrested and charged a prominent Kingston attorney, Ano Miller Sewell. She allegedly failed to account for over $37.8 million given to her by a client to purchase a St Andrew property.
The police charged Miller Sewell with fraudulent conversion during her recent legal troubles. She was also charged with possession of criminal property on May 27, 2025. Her attorney was present at the time.
The authorities granted her bail of $1 million. Law enforcement has scheduled her to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on June 30, 2025.
The complainant reportedly retained Miller Sewell last year to handle the purchase of a $57.6 million property located along Reds Hills Road.
Between January and March 2024, the victim reportedly transferred the full cost of the property to Miller Sewell amid legal troubles. It was understood she would wrap up the deal within 60 days.
The complainant alleges that Miller Sewell only disbursed $19.8 million to the attorneys for the vendors and has neglected to pay the balance of $37.8 million despite repeated requests.
