Domestic Violence claimed a young life. On Tuesday, June 9 police charged a suspect with the death of Kemelia Paul, 13, who passed away in the hospital on Tuesday.
Investigators have identified the suspect as Kemar Mitchell, 28, a carpenter of a Kingston 17 address.
The charge stemmed from a domestic dispute between Mitchell and Kemelia’s mother at home on May 9.
According to the police, Mitchell went to the home Kemelia shared with her mother. And an argument developed between the two adults.
The argument escalated and turned physical. Kemelia intervened, and Mitchell allegedly stabbed her in the stomach with a knife before leaving the premises.
Concerned residents rushed Kemelia to the hospital, where the authorities admitted her in serious condition.
However, Kemelia unfortunately succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday, June 9.
Investigators subsequently charged Mitchell charged with murder a day later. His court appearance dte is on July 17.
Missing Woman Found Dead, domestic violence suspected
The police have launched an investigation across three parishes after discovering the bodies of a man and a woman. The woman had been reported missing from Manchester, and the man, a security guard, was someone investigators sought to question regarding her disappearance.
Investigators have identified the deceased as Kedecia McLeod, 40, who relatives reported missing on Tuesday, June 9, and Maurice Sennel, 50
A farmer stumbled upon McLeod’s body on Thursday, June 11, at about 9:30 a.m. in a field in the Peppers community in St. Elizabeth. This raised serious concerns about domestic violence.
Earlier on Thursday, police in Brown’s Town, St. Ann, responded to a location where they discovered Sennel’s body with a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators are handling Sennel’s death as a suspected suicide. Sennel reportedly sent messages to friends and church groups indicating his intention to take his own life.
The police found his firearm found near his body and have confiscated the weapon for forensic examination.
According to reports, McLeod and Sennel were in a relationship. After McLeod went missing, the police wanted to question Sennel as a person of interest.
The discovery of both bodies within hours of each other has led to a coordinated investigation involving detectives from the Manchester, St. Elizabeth, and St. Ann police divisions.
