The authorities have promoted its leader, Sergeant Arleen McBean, to the senior ranks of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. She is now an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

The authorities have promoted its leader, Sergeant Arleen McBean, to the senior ranks of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. She is now an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

Arleen McBean’s promotion signifies the conclusion of her leadership tenure over the organization that represents the rank-and-file members of the JCF. This change creates a vacancy at the top of the federation. As a result, it sets the stage for an election to choose her successor.

Arleen McBean, is a long-time federation executive. She was among several dedicated officers High Command promoted to senior ranks. The Commissioner of Police Dr. Kevin Blake, adorned the newly promoted officers at his office in St. Andrew on Thursday.

Also promoted to senior ranks are DeVaughn Colquhoun, Assistant Commissioner of Police and Head of the JCF’s Corporate Services. The list also includes Senior Superintendents Adrian Hamilton and Arielle Brown Blake, and Superintendents Keisha Oakley and Alfred McDonald.

Strengthening the JCF’s officer ranks are Deputy Superintendents Howard Wilks, Nicholas Shorter, and Arlene Robinson Johnson. In addition, Assistant Superintendent Robert Bailey joins them.

The police federation, in a statement congratulating ASP Arleen McBean, highlighted her distinguished service to the organization in various leadership roles over the years. Furthermore, they emphasized her invaluable contributions to the welfare and well-being of both current and former rank-and-file members.

Besides, the federation expressed that Arleen McBean’s dedication, commitment, and unwavering advocacy for members have earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues. This admiration extends throughout the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Additionally, the federation said, “We wish you every success in your new role and pray for God’s continued guidance, favor, and abundant blessings as you embarks on this new chapter of service.”

Arleen McBean served the Police Federation with distinction. As chairperson, she vigorously advocated for the Federation against the government. However, the government’s decision to promote her while it is engaged in wage discussions with the Federation raises suspicions. It is important to note that the Federation does not represent ranks higher than Inspector, and she bypassed that rank.
