No Bail for Man Accused of Snatching Tourist’s US$2 Chain

A St Andrew man accused of stealing a gold-colored chain valued at US$2 from a tourist, had his bail application denied. Also, the judge issued a strong warning to the accused: "We have a serious responsibility and message to convey, even though it involves just two US dollars. We cannot take this lightly. You approached a visitor who helps support our economy, and you robbed her of her chain, so there will be no bail!" Judge Smith stated. In another incident, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, two business associates from Harbor View in Kingston, Jamaica, became involved in a domestic dispute that escalated into violence. One person died and another is in the hospital.

George Moodie, the principal of Grateful Hill Primary School and a former Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) councilor, is now facing legal trouble. Law enforcement formally charged him with assault occasioning bodily harm. This follows allegations that he physically assaulted a student. Also, The Fraud Squad Division's police arrested and charged a prominent Kingston attorney, Ano Miller Sewell. She allegedly failed to account for over $37.8 million given to her by a client to purchase a St Andrew property. The police charged Miller Sewell with fraudulent conversion during her recent legal troubles. She was also charged with possession of criminal property on May 27, 2025. Her attorney was present at the time.

Fuel Theft: NSWMA Workers Charged with Stealing Fuel. On Monday, April 5, 2025, C-TOC detectives arrested and charged two National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) employees in Jamaica.
