According to the police, an unnamed St Catherine taxi operator is in custody after he allegedly used his vehicle as a weapon. He struck down another driver. The driver later succumbed to his injuries.
The tragic incident occurred following a heated argument between the drivers along Gutters Main Road in Old Harbor, St Catherine. It happened early Sunday morning.
Investigators have identified the deceased man only by his alias “Shabba”. He reportedly operated on the Spanish Town to Old Harbor route.
The report indicates that on 27 September at about 2 a.m., Shabba and the suspect were in the Gutters area of Old Habor. At that location, a verbal altercation broke out between them.
During the argument, the overly irate suspect allegedly threatened to kill Shabba.
Shabba reportedly challenged the suspect and stepped onto the roadway. The suspect allegedly drove into him, hitting him with the vehicle.
Additionally, the report further alleged that while Shabba was lying on the ground, the suspect reversed the vehicle. He ran over him a second time.
Residents assisted the severely injured Shabba to the Spanish Town General Hospital, where a doctor pronounced him deceased.
Later that day, the suspect turned himself in at the Old Harbor Police Station. The police arrested him on suspicion of homicide.
The suspect remains in custody as detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Old Harbor Security guard charged after stealing rum from his workplace.
The Kingston Central police have arrested and charged a security guard from St. Catherine with larceny. CCTV footage allegedly shows him stealing a case of rum from a business establishment in South Parade, Kingston, Jamaica. It is particularly concerning that Barrett is employed at the very business he is accused of stealing from.

Investigators have identified the suspect as 35-year-old Jowayne Barrett of Old Harbor, St Catherine. The police charged him with simple larceny.
According to the Central Police, the incident occurred at about 3:12 p.m. on Thursday, 24 September, 2026.
The complainant observed signs of suspicious activity in the his storeroom, which prompted him to reviewed the closed-circuit television footage.
According to the police, the footage allegedly showed Barrett stealing a case of White Over Proof Rum valued at approximately J$20,000.
The complainant later reported the matter to the police, who identified, arrested, and charged Barrett.
His court appearance date is pending.
