Suspect arrested and charged with the murder of a Havanah Heights shopkeeper.
Suspect Arrested: Police Charged a Clarendon Man With Murder. Police in Clarendon have arrested and charged a suspect with murder and multiple firearm-related offenses. The charges came after eyewitness statements. These statements linked the suspect to the fatal shooting of a beloved shopkeeper in Havanah Heights on April 17, 2025.
The authorities identified the deceased as 48-year-old Oliver Andrews, otherwise known as ‘Suite.’
Law enforcement identified the accused as Gofar Brown, 35, a resident of the Havanah Heights community.
Detectives formally charged Brown with the fatal shooting of the 48-year-old shopkeeper.
Besides murder, the police also charged Brown with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition. Additionally, they charged him with using a firearm to commit a felony.
According to the police report, on April 17, 2025, at about 8:15 p.m., Brown allegedly approached Andrews at his business place. Then, he reportedly brandished a firearm and opened fire, hitting Andrews several times before escaping on foot.
Law enforcement responded. Upon arrival, they found Andrews suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body.
As a result, the officers swiftly transported Andrews to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
The police acted swiftly and launched an investigation. They later arrested Brown during an operation on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. They formally charged him after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
The authorities have yet to decide on a court date for Brown.
Arrests Made in Bulk Rum Seizure in St Elizabeth
In St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, police arrested three suspects connected to the seizure of several containers of bulk rum. Law enforcement made the seizure during a targeted operation. The operation occurred in the Siloah Housing Scheme in St Elizabeth on Friday, April 25, 2025.
According to reports, at approximately 5:00 a.m., a specialized team of police officers conducted targeted operations at two residences in the Siloah Housing Scheme. They were armed with search warrants.
During thorough searches at both premises, the officers seized several containers containing 55 gallons of rum.
Suspected Arrested. The law enforcement officers seized the illegal goods and arrested three individuals.
But, investigators have withheld the identities of the three suspects, pending further investigations and formal charges are determined.
The police say it is continuing its investigation into the matter.
