Police neutralized a suspect Tuesday night during an alleged confrontation near Claremont, in Old Harbor, St Catherine. Authorities say the suspect was on the police’s wanted list for his alleged involvement in a series of multimillion-dollar robberies. Also, police in Clarendon seized more than 70 rounds of ammunition and an M16 rifle during an operation in Havana Heights, Denbigh, on Tuesday. Additionally, the police arrested three individuals in connection with the incident.

Police neutralized a suspect Tuesday night during an alleged confrontation near Claremont, in Old Harbor, St Catherine. Authorities say the suspect was on the police’s wanted list for his alleged involvement in a series of multimillion-dollar robberies.

Law enforcement officials have identified the suspect as Shane Clarke, 27, otherwise known as “Giant.” Furthermore, authorities say Clarke was a reputed gangster from the Berry dale area on the Manchester/Clarendon border.

The police stated that on Tuesday, 29 September, at about 7:00 p.m., Clarke engaged cops in a running gun battle on Bowers Drive, in the Colbeck, St Catherine.

However, when the shooting ceased, the police found Clarke seriously injured. They rushed him to the hospital, but authorities pronounced him deceased.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the police recovered two firearms at the scene. The weapons were a black-and-silver .380 pistol, fitted with a magazine containing one round, and a black AK-47 rifle fitted with an empty magazine. Furthermore, the serial numbers on both weapons were reportedly not visible.

Additionally, the police said Clarke was under investigation as the mastermind behind several robberies on Beryllium Limited. The robberies include the 25 August 2023 heist at Scotia Bank in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica.

The police in Clarendon seized more than 70 rounds of ammunition and an M16 rifle during an operation in Havana Heights, Denbigh, on Tuesday. Additionally, the police arrested three individuals in connection with the incident.

The operation commenced at approximately 5:15 a.m. At that time, members of the Specialized Operations Branch, Search Center, and Canine Division executed a targeted search based on gathered intelligence.

During the operation, police discovered an M16 rifle along with a magazine and a bottle containing 45 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition. These items were found in an abandoned pig pen.

Further inspection of the premises revealed an extended 9mm magazine containing 32 rounds of 9mm ammunition. It was hidden in the back of a vehicle parked on the property.

Three individuals were taken into custody, and their identities are being withheld pending further investigation.
