MOCA. The Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency has arrested a fourth person in a multimillion-dollar mortgage fraud scheme targeting banks.
The police have not revealed the suspect’s name, but they have confirmed that he is 36 years old.
According to reports, law enforcement arrested the suspect on Wednesday at the Kingston Central Police Station. Cops nabbed the suspect as he complied with his bail conditions in connection with anothe matter. The suspect was on bail for alleged breaches of the Proceeds of Crime Act and conspiracy to defraud.
MOCA said the suspect is the fourth person the police have arrested in connection with the case. Earlier, investigators charged Chloe Douett, 30, a medical doctor from Cherry Gardens, St. Andrew. They also charged Ivana Campbell, 29, an executive assistant from Cedar Grove, Portmore. In addition, investigators also charged Dwayne Pitter, 44, an unemployed resident of Olympic Gardens, St. Andrew.
Detectives allege that all four accused are part of an organized criminal syndicate. The syndicate allegedly orchestrated an elaborate, highly sophisticated multimillion-dollar fraud scheme. It targeted several banks and financial institutions between January 2023 and April 2024.
The individuals allegedly engaged in fraud by using both genuine and forged documents. They used the documents to circumvent security protocols and identity verification processes at banks.
The police said they will file charges against the latest arrestee soon.
Major Basil Jarrett, the director of communications at MOCA, stated that the team will continue its close collaboration with the FID. This will ensure that everyone involved in this complex and sophisticated crime is brought to justice.

Teen charged with murder of father in St Elizabeth
Detectives charged a 19-year-old man with the fatal stabbing of his father, 53-year-old Gary Allwood, otherwise called ‘Blugist,’ at his home in Round Hill district, St Elizabeth on Tuesday, April 28.
Charged is Odaine Allwood, otherwise called ‘Easy,’ a farmer of the same address.
The Lacovia police stated that at about midday, Allwood and his father had an argument that escalated into a physical altercation.
During the fight, Odain allegedly used a knife to stab his father in the upper body. The police were alerted, and on arrival, they found the elder Allwood on the ground with stab wounds.
They rushed the elder Allwood to the hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead.
Law enforcement later apprehended and charged Odaine, after he allegedly gave the police a caution statement admitting to the crime.
