KINGSTON, Jamaica – Kingston Central police have launched a high-level search for a father the police believed stabbed his daughter to death during a domestic dispute at their home in Kingston Sunday morning, April 2, 2023.
The police identified the deceased as 17-year-old Shedeque Calvert of Barry Street in Kingston.
According to the authorities, at about 1:10 am, April 2, 2023, a dispute developed between the father and his daughter, during which the father used a knife to inflict a deadly wound on his daughter’s chest. Residents rushed her to the hospital, but she died while undergoing treatment.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communication issued a statement reaffirming the JCF’s commitment to do all it takes to reduce the incidence of domestic violence through education and ensuring the JCF investigates all cases of domestic violence reported to the police.
The public must be reminded that the JCF presently has 10 Domestic Violence Intervention (DVI) centers across the island.
The JCF also encourages persons to report all suspected domestic violence cases, even if they’re not the victim.
Unknown thugs fatally shot two and injured four in Mocho.
CLARENDON, Jamaica – Unknown assailants fatally shot two men and injured four during a shooting at Darlow District, Mocho, Clarendon, Saturday night, April 1, 2023.
The police identified the dead men as 37-year-old Ervin Wright, o/c ‘Joe,’ and Jason Lewin, 24. Both men are construction workers and residents in the Darlow district.
The injured men have since been admitted to the hospital, one of which is in a serious state.
According to the authorities, six men were hanging out at a shop and having drinks when a white Toyota Probox motor pulled, and two men armed with handguns alighted and entered the shop, and opened fire at the victims.
Residents summoned the police, and upon their arrival, they found the lifeless bodies of Wright and Lewin lying face down along the roadway with gunshot wounds to their heads and upper bodies.
The police rushed the injured victims to the hospital for treatment.
The police recovered 15 9mm spent shells at the crime scene. However, the police have not determined a motive for the attack.
