Detective Corporal Caught with Stolen Car in Jamaica. On Saturday, May 24, 2025, police arrested an unnamed detective corporal. Officers found him in possession of a vehicle that had been reported stolen along Coleyville Avenue in St Andrew, Jamaica.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) issued a statement on Sunday. They noted that members of the St. Andrew South and St. Catherine South police divisions responded quickly and in a coordinated manner. Their efforts resulted in the successful recovery of the vehicle. They also apprehended a police officer identified as a detective corporal.
Authorities said that at approximately 11:10 p.m. on Saturday, the police received a report of robbery with aggravation along Coleyville Avenue in Kingston 20.
The complainant was a 19-year-old Indrive taxi operator. He reported that an individual with a gun attacked him and forcibly took control of his vehicle.
Fortunately, the complainant managed to escape unharmed and quickly notified the authorities.
Upon receiving the report, the Police Emergency Communication Center triggered a rapid, cross-divisional operational response.
Moments later, officers tracked the vehicle electronically to a location in St Catherine.

Soon after, cops intercepted and recovered the vehicle along Dyke Road near the Jam World Complex in Portmore, St. Catherine.
During the operation, an individual the police found inside the vehicle identified himself as a detective corporal.
The police searched the suspect. They found a Glock 17 9mm service pistol. They also found two magazines and 34 rounds of ammunition. All of this was issued equipment belonging to the JCF. He was also in possession of his official police identification.
The detective Corporal’s arrest takes place amid rising concerns about the increasing rate of car thefts on the island.
Police data reveals that criminals stole nearly $905 million in motor vehicles during the first quarter of 2024. From January 1 to March 31, a total of 474 vehicles were reported stolen, but only 76 were recovered.
