ODPP Indicted Two Police Officers For Wounding With Intent. On Thursday, July 18, 2025, two members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force appeared before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court. The matter before the court was a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred on January 1, 2024, in Seaview Gardens, Kingston. The officers charged are Corporal Lavon Francis and Corporal Kawain Johnson.

Larceny and Burglary: Cops Charged Two Suspects With Theft. Police in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, charged Jamario Jarrett, also known as ‘Oreo.’ He is 25 and a laborer from Hyman Town in the Brighton district, St Elizabeth. The charges are for burglary and larceny.

Hyman reportedly admitted to breaking into and stealing items from a business establishment in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth, on May 17, 2025..

According to a police statement released on Saturday, May 24, the police charged the suspect based on evidence gathered at the scene of the crime. Plus, a caution statement in which he admitted to the crime.

The incident allegedly took place along Main Street around 2 a.m. on May 17.

The Black River police reported that the business owner had securely locked up her premises before she went home.

While at home, she received a notification about a break-in at her business establishment.

She summoned the police and they responded. Upon arrival, officers reportedly saw two men fleeing the scene while carrying stolen items.

Investigators launched an investigation and determined that the perpetrators had gained entry by forcing open a rear window.

They identified Jarrett as a person of interest.

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, Jarrett turned himself in to the police and admitted the crimes of burglary and larceny.

His court appearance date is pending.

Detectives in St. Andrew, Jamaica, charged a sales representative in connection with the alleged theft of nearly $4 million from her employer.

Lorian Hyde, 34, who resides on Glendale Avenue in Kingston 10, was named in a police statement released on Friday.

She faces charges of larceny as a servant. An internal audit uncovered multiple irregularities. These involved customer accounts between October 2023 and November 2024.

According to the Half-Way Tree police, the company’s audit found that Hyde allegedly collected a total of $3.8 million from various customers but failed to remit the funds to her employer. These discrepancies prompted the company to file a larceny report with the police.

The police took Hyde into custody on Tuesday, May 20, 2024. They later charged her on Thursday. This happened after a question-and-answer session with her attorney present.

Hyde’s court appearance date is pending.
