Gun Crimes: Police Charged Two Suspects With Multiple Felonies. Police in St. Thomas, Jamaica, charged a suspect with the September 13, 2024, shooting along Gypsum Road in St. Thomas, during which one man died and another was seriously injured.
The dead is 29-year-old caretaker Dominique McCalpin of Mark Twain Avenue, Gregory Park, St Catherine.
The authorities identified the alleged perpetrator of the gun crimes as Jaheel Spike, 32. He is a laborer residing in Coconut Crescent, Portmore, St Catherine, and Pondside district, Bull Bay, St Andrew.
Investigators charged Spike with several gun crimes. These charges include murder, conspiracy to murder, and assault at common law. They also include the use of a firearm to commit a felony and shooting with intent. Additionally, Spike faces charges for possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition. Lastly, he is charged with discharging a firearm in a public place.

According to a report from the Morant Bay Police, at about noon, Spike chartered a taxi. He intended to go to Gypsum Road to collect money.
The driver of the vehicle, accompanied by McCalpin, took Spike to his destination.
Upon arrival at the location, two men armed with handguns joined them.
Moments later, Spike searched the driver and accused him of stealing his scamming client’s phone.
Then, Spike instructed the armed men to do whatever they wanted with the taxi driver.
One of the two opened fire, hitting McCalpin multiple times.
The taxi driver fled the scene. While he was running away, the gunmen fired several shots. They hit him in the upper body.
After being on the run for more than six months, police officers in St. Mary apprehended Spike during an operation.
The police formally charged him with multiple gun crimes on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
Spike’s court appearance date is pending.
Police charged a St. Ann man with multiple gun crimes
Detectives in St Ann have charged a suspect. He allegedly shot and injured a man in the Content Garden Community. The incident occurred on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
The police identified the accused as Oswaine Lynch, 34, of Content Garden in Ocho Rios, St Ann, Jamaica.
As a consequence, law enforcement slapped Lynch with multiple charges. These charges include wounding with intent using a prohibited weapon. They also include possession of a prohibited weapon. Furthermore, unauthorized possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony are part of the charges.
According to the Ocho Rios Police stated that at about 3:00 p.m., Lynch allegedly shot and injured the complainant in the Content Garden community.
The injured man received treatment at the hospital and filed a criminal report with the police on Monday, May 19.
In response, the police launched an investigation and apprehended Lynch. They formally charged him with several gun crimes on Thursday, May 22, after a question-and-answer session.
His court date is Pending.
