Suspect charged gun seizure at a Kingston party
Gun Seizure: Police Arrested Two In Kingston and St. Catherine. In Kingston East, Jamaica, detectives charged a suspect. They allegedly held him with a gun at a party. The event occurred on Mountain View Avenue early Sunday morning, April 6, 2025.
They identified the accused as 34-year-old Rory McFarlane, a taxi operator from a Mountain View Avenue address.
Gun seizure. The accused faces charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
His court date is pending.
The Elletson Road police reported that at around 1:00 a.m., a patrol team observed a party occurring in the area.
The team checked the venue to decide whether the promoter had a permit.
While checking the venue, officers observed McFarlane behaving in a manner that aroused their suspicion.
The officers accosted and searched McFarlane.
Gun seizure. During the search, law enforcement found the firearm in a bag that McFarlane had in his possession.
Detectives took the suspect into custody and formally charged him with the gun seizure after a question-and-answer session.
His court appearance date is pending.
One Suspect Arrested after gun seizure in Thompson Pen, St. Catherine
On Sunday, April 6, 2025, the security forces in Jamaica seized four firearms along with three rounds of ammunition. The operation took place at a house in Thompson Pen, Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
The authorities arrested one man in connection with the gun seizure.
Police said Sunday’s gun seizure followed Saturday night’s gun attack in Thompson Pen, during which gunmen shot and injured three persons
Police officials said that at around 12:30 p.m., the security forces converged in the Thompson Pen community in search of wanted persons.
During a search of the suspect’s house, the law enforcement officers found the guns and ammunition in his possession.
The authorities have withheld the suspect’s identity pending further investigation and formal charges.
Mother Charged for Failing to Report Son’s Alleged Crime
The St. Catherine police have charged a mother. She failed to report a crime against a minor. Her 17-year-old son allegedly committed the crime.
Law enforcement named the accused as Sanya Simms, 40. She is a higgler of Water Lane, Junction, and Toms River in St Mary.
The police charged her with failure to report a crime to the Children Registry.
Detectives assigned to the Spanish Town police stated that at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, Simms’ son allegedly committed a crime on a minor. He was later arrested and charged for this crime.
The incident occurred in the Fairfield Crescent community in Spanish Town, St Catherine, Jamaica.
According to the police, Simms knew that her son committed the crime. But she failed to report it to the police. She also did not report it to the Children Registry.
On Friday, April 4, investigators arrested and charged Simms with the crime.
The authorities scheduled her to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday, May 13.
