A woman and her stepson have been arrested and charged by the St Mary police following a domestic dispute at their home, on February 29, 2024.
Cherian Birch, also known as ‘Munchie,’ aged 37, and her 18-year-old stepson Tyron Harrow, also known as ‘Tyreek,’ both residents of Baileys Vale district, Port Maria, St Mary, have been charged with wounding with intent and unlawful wounding.
The incident occurred during an argument between Birch and her common-law husband, in which Harrow, the husband’s son, intervened. Allegedly, Harrow held onto his father, resulting in a struggle that led to them falling to the ground.
Subsequently, both accused allegedly held down the complainant and inflicted multiple chop wounds on his body. Both individuals were arrested by the Port Maria police, and have since been charged. Their court appearance date is pending.
Police charged two St Mary siblings accused of attempting to steal goats.
On February 27, 2024, two siblings, Kwamen Adams, 41, and Kedela Adams, 44, were charged by the police in St Mary after attempting to steal several goats in Sandside district.
The authorities accused them of larceny of goats, possession of a prohibited weapon, using a firearm to commit a felony, and assault at common law.
The incident occurred around 7:10 p.m. when a resident in the Sandside community caught Kwamen and two other men removing the goats. When the resident confronted them, one of the individuals brandished what appeared to be a firearm.
In response, the resident, a licensed firearm holder, discharged his weapon, causing the individuals to flee. Kwamen ran into a car, and his accomplices escaped into nearby bushes. The police later found an imitation firearm in Kedela’s handbag and arrested both siblings.
Their alleged accomplices remain at large, and the siblings are set to appear in the St Mary Parish Court on March 7, 2024.
Police investigating suspected suicide of American visitor in St. Ann.
The authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an American visitor in St. Ann on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Jacob Grant, a resident of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Investigators are looking into a suspected case of suicide, as Grant’s body was discovered hanging from a piece of rope by his brother on a property in Drax Hall, St. Ann, at approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024. A note was also found at the scene, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to be carried out to establish the cause of death.
A Female motorist is charged with failing to stop after knocking a police officer from his bike.
The Portland police have pressed charges against a female motorist following an incident over the weekend. Krystal Bryan, 31, of New Harbor Village in Old Harbor, St. Catherine, has been identified as the accused. She faces charges of failing to stop after her vehicle allegedly knocked a police inspector from his service motorcycle on Harbour Street, Portland.
The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The court date for the accused is pending.
Police charged a teen girl with wounding a 12-year-old in Trelawny.
The Trelawny Police have pressed charges against a 16-year-old girl in connection to the stabbing of her 12-year-old female relative at Carey Park on February 14, 2024.
The teenager turned herself in at the Duncans Police Station, where she was subsequently questioned and charged with wounding with intent over the weekend.
Allegedly, both girls were home around 4 p.m. when an argument erupted. The 16-year-old purportedly used a ratchet knife to stab her relative in the back. Following this, the 12-year-old fell and the 16-year-old proceeded to stab her multiple times in the upper body before fleeing the scene.
Upon notification, the police arrived and attended to the 12-year-old, who was then taken to the hospital and admitted for treatment.
The accused court appearance date is pending.
Shopkeeper allegedly chops up man after stone hits his vehicle.
A shopkeeper in Manchester is currently facing charges of wounding with intent after a reported altercation that resulted in a man being injured. Sachmo Green, a 53-year-old individual from Waltham, Jamaica, was arrested and charged following an incident in Bonito Heights on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
According to reports from the Mandeville police, at approximately 4 a.m., a man and his girlfriend were involved in a dispute, during which he threw a stone that accidentally struck Green’s vehicle. Allegedly, Green proceeded to report the incident to the police, and then returned to the scene where he reportedly inflicted several chopping wounds on the man.
The injured individual was taken to the hospital for treatment, while Green was subsequently arrested and charged with the offense. His court date is currently being finalized, as indicated by the police.
