Hoodlums shot six, three fatally in 26 hours in St Elizabeth.

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica—Investigations are underway into two separate shooting incidents that claimed the lives of three men and injuries to three others in St. Elizabeth within a 26-hour period.

During the initial incident on Friday, March 1, 2024, two men were fatally shot and two others were wounded at a bar in Santa Cruz. The deceased have been identified as 21-year-old Javed Griffiths, a resident of Church Road in the Northampton district, and 34-year-old Dorado Green, who lived on Beadles Boulevard in Santa Cruz.

According to police reports, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the four men were socializing at a bar when armed individuals entered and opened fire. Law enforcement officers swiftly responded and transported the injured men to the hospital, where Green and Griffiths were pronounced dead. While one of the injured men has been treated and released, the fourth victim remains hospitalized.

In the second incident, an unidentified assailant fatally shot one man and injured another in the Vineyard District on the night of Saturday, March 2, 2024. The deceased, 29-year-old Tevin Williams, also known as ‘Dino,’ was a mechanic and resident of Dougal Road in the Vineyard district.

The police report indicates that at around 8:50 p.m., both men were standing outside a shop in the community when an armed individual disembarked from a vehicle and opened fire, resulting in injuries to both men. Law enforcement officials quickly intervened and transported the injured to the hospital, where Williams succumbed to his injuries, and the other man was admitted for medical treatment.

Jamaican Gazette: According to reports, a man was apprehended by a police team from the St Andrew Central Division after a firearm and several rounds of ammunition were seized along Half-Way Tree Road, Kingston 5, on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

The Cross Roads Police reported that around 12:35 a.m., a team of law enforcement officers spotted two individuals along the roadway behaving in a manner that raised suspicion.

The police intervened, and one of the men allegedly removed a firearm from his waist and disposed of it under a parked vehicle.

The man was detained, and the firearm, identified as a Glock 19 pistol with 13 rounds of ammunition, was recovered.

The authorities have chosen to withhold the suspect’s identity pending further investigations and formal charges.

St Catherine police seek driver of Nissan motorcar involved in fatal hit-and-run.

As per media reports, the St Catherine South police are seeking to establish the identity of the driver of a Nissan motor car involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident with a pedal cyclist along the main road in Dunbeholden, St Catherine, on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

The deceased has been identified as Darlington Hall by investigators.

According to police reports, at approximately 4 p.m., Hall was cycling along the roadway when he was struck by a Nissan Sylphy motor car near the Caribbean Estates.

The driver of the Nissan failed to stop at the scene.

Regrettably, the injuries sustained led to the passing of the victim.

The authorities have disclosed that they have acquired the vehicle’s license plate number and urged the driver to come forward.

Police arrested four after gun seizure in Westmoreland.

Recent reports indicate that the police in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland apprehended four individuals on Sunday, March 3, 2024, after the confiscation of a firearm during an organized operation.

Allegedly, at approximately 4 a.m., a police unit conducted a targeted search at a location on Cooke Street. During the search, law enforcement personnel discovered a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol, along with a magazine containing eight 9mm cartridges.

The authorities proceeded to arrest the four occupants of the property. However, the police have chosen to withhold the suspects’ identities pending further investigation and formal charges.

Jamaican Gazette: Reports indicate that the police in Hanover have pressed charges against a 15-year-old boy for violating the Firearms Act in connection to a gun attack on a group of men engaged in a game of dominoes at a shop in Ramble, which occurred on January 9, 2024.

The teenager has been charged with wounding with intent, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.

According to the police, the incident took place in Forrest district on the evening of Tuesday, January 9. Allegedly, two armed individuals entered a local shop in Forrest District around 8 p.m. and discharged firearms at the group of men before fleeing the scene.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and transported two injured men to the hospital for medical attention.

After an investigation, the teenager was apprehended on Thursday, February 29, 2024. After a questioning session with his legal representative and guardian, the police formally charged him.

The date for his appearance in court is pending.
