Agents rushed the injured man to the Kingston Public Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.

Police ID the deceased as Orlando Waite. He is otherwise called ‘Garth’ and ‘Bulbi.’ He was 26 years old and a farmer from Lease Land, Kingsland district, Spur Tree in Manchester.

The fatal police confrontation happened at approximately 2:33 a.m.

Reportedly, officers recovered one Smith and Wesson .38 revolver with a magazine containing two .38 cartridges.

Meanwhile, the head of the Manchester police, Deputy Superintendent Carey Duncan, confirmed the shooting.

He explained that the police received information that criminal suspects were hiding at a house in Kingsland near Mandeville.

Upon breaching the premises, Waite brazenly pointed a weapon at the police.

The police, in fear for their lives, responded by firing at him, hitting him several times.

Law enforcement officials have reported the shooting to the Inspectorate of Professional Standards and Oversight Bureau. They also informed the Independent Commission of Investigations. This demonstrates a commitment to transparency and accountability.
