Police Solved Murder Case After Seven Years
The case involving Clarke’s aunt dates back to 2017.
But, after seven years of relentless investigation into the murder of Doreen Hamilton, 64, and her son in their home, detectives assigned to Area 3 Major Investigations Division made a significant breakthrough in November 2024.
As a result, the police charged Clarke with double Murder, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition, and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony.
Reportedly, at about 12:05 am on Saturday, September 2, 2017, residents on Cedar Garden Road in Mandeville heard explosions coming from Hamilton’s home and summoned the police.
Upon the arrival of the police, Doreen Hamilton and her 38-year-old son, Oraine Hamilton, were found inside their home lifeless with gunshot wounds.
Intense investigations took place over several months. However, detectives were unable to lay formal charges.
Follow-up investigations persisted over the years, and in November 2024, the police discovered a vital piece of evidence that led to the charges.
Clarke has also been charged with double Murder, Conspiracy to Murder, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition, Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony, and Wounding with Intent concerning a double murder at Craighead district in Manchester on Saturday, July 13.
Police charged the suspect with the Double Murder at a Manchester Bar
Police identified the deceased as Tanisha Burton, o/c ‘Browning,’ 39, a businesswoman of Big Wood in Craighead District, Manchester, and 74-year-old Wilford Mallison, o/c ‘Danny.’
Reports from the Mandeville Police are that at about 10:10 pm, Burton, Mallison, and another man were at a bar when armed men entered and opened gunfire, hitting all three persons. The gunmen then escaped on foot.
One of the injured persons alerted relatives, who summoned the police.
Upon arrival, the police found Burton and Mallison lying on the floor in the bar, suffering from gunshot wounds.
The police rushed the victims to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced two dead. The other man was treated and released.
Based on information gathered during the investigation, detectives believe that Clarke, while in custody, contracted 23-year-old Jowayne Williams, o/c ‘Dangles,’ a farmer of Pike district in Christiana, Manchester, and others to carry out the double murder.
The police charged Williams on Friday, November 29, 2024, in connection with the fatal shooting.
