Murder suspect killed during confrontation with police in St Elizabeth.

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – On Saturday, September 9, 2023, the St. Elizabeth police shot and killed a suspect in a confrontation with the police. The police had recently listed the suspect as a person of interest.

The police identified the deceased as Christopher McKen, age 27, unemployed of a Top Hill, Junction St. Elizabeth address. 

According to Acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto, Head of the St. Elizabeth police, at about 12:10 a.m., the police received information that men traveling on motorbikes planned to rob a returning resident.

Law enforcement officers intercepted two men traveling on a bike along the Top Hill Main Road, which led to a confrontation. The police shot and injured one man, who died at the hospital. 

Minto said McKen was a murder suspect and was on the police radar concerning several robberies committed in St. Elizabeth.

The police recovered one .380 Smith and Wesson pistol with two .380 cartridges. The other man managed to escape.

Police rearrest murder suspect who absconded bail. 

On Saturday, September 9, 2023, a suspect wanted for murder was among five suspects captured by the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force (JAGTF) on Grenmeade Road in Marverly, St Andrew. The police seized one firearm during the operation.

According to reporting, the JAGTF conducted an intelligence-driven operation at premises on Grenmeade Road in Marverly, St. Andrew, between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. While searching the premises, the police found one 9mm Glock pistol behind a mattress resting against a zinc fence.

The police took five men into custody as a result. One of the men whose name the police withheld was wanted for murder by the St. Andrew South police. The court had issued a bench warrant for his arrest after he absconded bail.

Police arrested a suspect accused of having sex with a person of unsound mind.

Detectives assigned to the Spanish Town police station in St Catherine arrested a 50-year-old male suspect after allegedly having sexual intercourse with a female of unsound mind. 

The police arrested the suspect on Sunday afternoon, September 10, 2023, after receiving a report that the alleged victim had been missing for three weeks.

Police personnel raided the home of the suspect and ejected the woman. 

The police placed the suspect in custody pending interrogation.
