Senior Superintendent Carlos Russell, Commanding Officer for St. James, confirmed the deadly confrontation in St. James. He stated that the police had killed the suspects during a confrontation. All three were linked to the mass shooting that occurred on Hart Street in Montego Bay, St. James. It took place on Friday, April 4, 2025.

According to reports, sometime after 3:00 p.m., a police team went to a rented house in the gated West Village community on Granville’s outskirts.
As the officers approached the premises, they reportedly came under fire. The officers returned fire, and a gun battle ensued.
When the shooting ceased, the police found three unidentified men suffering from gunshot wounds and two firearms.
Hospital officials pronounced all three men dead on arrival.

Similarly, in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, police operatives shot and killed three suspects, including a 15-year-old boy, during a deadly confrontation.
The authorities have so far identified two of the deceased killed in the deadly confrontation with the police. They are 15-year-old Sheldon McCalla, a former Petersfield High School student, and his 25-year-old brother-in-law, Odane Barron.
The third suspect in the deadly confrontation with police remains unidentified.
According to the police, at about 4:30 a.m., a team of officers went to a house on Sticky Lane in the Top Lincoln district. They had received reports that armed men were at the location.
Upon arrival, the police reportedly came under fire, which prompted the officers to take evasive actions and return fire. As a result, a gun battle ensued.
When the shooting ceased, the police found the three suspects suffering from gunshot wounds. Also, they found two firearms and eight rounds of ammunition.
The police transported the suspects to the hospital, where the medical staff pronounced them dead.
Law enforcement officials said Odane Barron was a known gangster. He was out on bail for the murder of Shantal Calder-Whittingham in the Paradise district on August 12, 2023.
The Police High Command added that Barron had been the target of multiple police operations.
They claim he was involved in the guns-for-drugs trade, including the supply of weapons to criminal networks in Western Jamaica.
