Teen Boys Charged in Lawrence Tavern Murder Case
Murder Indictment: Two Teen boys Among Suspects Charged. On Monday, April 7, 2025, detectives assigned to the St. North police charged two boys, ages 15 and 17, with murder and gun-related charges.
The authorities said the charges relate to the fatal shooting of a taxi operator. This incident occurred in the Content district, Lawrence Tavern, St. Andrew, on October 26, 2024.
Detectives charged the teens with several offenses. These include one murder indictment and possession of a prohibited weapon. They also include unauthorized possession of ammunition, conspiracy to commit murder, and using a firearm to commit a felony. The charges are based on CCTV footage and a witness statement.
Law enforcement identified the deceased as Verne Joseph, 49, of Manning’s Hill, Stony Hill, St Andrew, Jamaica.
The allegation stated that, at around 7:30 p.m., the two teens and a man charted a white Toyota Probox motor car operated by Joseph. This occurred on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
While traveling along Essex Hall main road, the male passenger brandished a firearm and demanded that Joseph grant his requests.
In fear for his life, Joseph made a desperate effort to drive the car into a gully. The gunman opened fire and hit Joseph in the head.
As a result, the vehicle collided with a retaining wall.
The two juveniles and the man exited the vehicle. They tried to flee. But angry residents in the community intercepted them.
Nevertheless, the gunman escaped on foot after threatening to open fire on the angry mob.
The police responded and arrested the teens. Minutes later, they found Joseph’s body slumped over in the front passenger seat of the car.
Law enforcement rushed Joseph and the injured teens to the hospital, where officials pronounced Joseph dead and treated the teens.
On Monday, April 7, 2025, the police formally charged the teens. Their court appearance dates are pending.
In the meantime, investigators are actively searching for the third suspect.
Murder indictment: Manchester man charged for Bartender’s murder in New Green
Police in Manchester brought a murder indictment against a construction worker. The charge was for the 2024 fatal shooting of a bartender. This occurred in the New Green district of Manchester.
Investigators named the deceased as 46-year-old Kerrean Nicole Airy, a bartender from Cumberland in Portmore, St. Catherine.
The police identified the accused as Anthony Bailey, 23, from the Barrett Piece district in Kendal, Manchester.
Detectives from the Manchester CIB charged Bailey with several crimes. These one indictment for murder murder and shooting with intent. He was charged with conspiracy to commit shooting with intent.
Additionally, he faced charges for possession of a prohibited weapon. Unauthorized possession of ammunition was also among the charges. Finally, he was charged with using a firearm to commit a felony.
Bailey eluded the police for nearly a year. Law enforcement apprehended him on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. This occurred during an operation in the Kendal district in Manchester.
According to the police, at approximately 12:44 p.m. on May 1, 2024, Airy was at her bar. While there, men posing as customers entered the premises.
They proceeded to brandish guns, demanded money, and opened fire, hitting Airy and another woman.
The police responded and rushed the injured victims to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced Airy dead. Then, they treated and released the other woman.
The police formally indicted Bailey on Friday, April 4, after a question-and-answer session in his attorney’s presence.
Bailey’s court date is pending.
