The St Ann’s Bay police reported that on Thursday, March 27, 2025, the child’s mother left her in Joseph’s care. She trusted him for the child’s protection.

Furthermore, Joseph reportedly took the child to a health center. He told medical personnel that she became unresponsive during her bath.
The medical team attempted to resuscitate baby Alayah, yet she remained unresponsive.
Hospital officials transported her to the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, where the medical staff pronounced her dead.
Investigators launched an investigation and later arrested and charged Joseph. His court date is pending.
Recent murder in Jamaica: Clarendon man arrested for strangling Ocho Rios retiree
On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, St. Ann police charged a suspect with the November 2024 murder of a 72-year-old retiree. Police found the retiree tied up, strangled, and robbed at his home in Pyramid Point, Ocho Rios.
The authorities named the suspect Malik Hepburn, 23, from Buckner in May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica.
They charged him with the murder of Allan Rattigan, whose caregiver found him dead on Monday, November 18, 2024.
Investigators said that at about 10:p.m.. Rattigan’s caregiver stumbled upon his body in his residence with his hands and feet bound.
Reports from the St. Ann’s Bay police are that around 10:00 p.m., Rattigan’s caregiver stumbled upon his body with his hands and feet bound.
The police responded and transported Rattigan to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
Detectives launched an investigation. During the investigation, law enforcement learned that Rattigan had allegedly invited Hepburn and four other men to his home.
During the visit, an altercation reportedly developed, during which the men allegedly strangled Rattigan.
The police said the men stole an undetermined quantity of jewelry. They also took a pair of shoes and a mobile phone belonging to Rattigan during the incident.
The police arrested Hepburn. They formally charged him after a question-and-answer session. This session occurred in the presence of two Justices of the Peace on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
His court appearance date is pending.
