On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, an unknown person gunned down a 79-year-old man inside his York Town, Clarendon home.

The police identified the deceased as Parnell Scott, age 79, a retiree of York Circle in York Town.

According to reporting, residents in the community heard loud explosions early Wednesday morning and alerted the police.

The police arrived and checked the area but did not locate the murder scene.

About 7:30 a.m., residents discovered the older man’s body in his house and summoned the police again.

Upon arrival, the police found the body in the house on its back with several gunshot wounds.

They transported the body to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced it dead.

Scott’s tragic death comes a week after police found the body of a 62-year-old man with his head bashed in in Lionel Town, Clarendon.

On Monday, a 52-year-old man was also fatally shot along the Rowington Main Road in Milk River in the parish. 

Clarendon has recorded a total of 67 murders up to August 12.

Police charged ‘Buddy’ after allegedly threatening to kill a woman.

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Constant Spring police charged a male suspect with several breaches of the Firearms Act stemming from an incident on August 8, 2023, when he threatened to kill the complainant.

The police identified the suspect as Shakeem Owens, o/c ‘Buddy,’ age 26, a welder of Glen Drive, Kingston 8. The police charged him with shooting with intent, assault occasioning bodily harm, assault at common law, and possessing a prohibited weapon.

According to the police, at about midnight on the day in question, Owens and four other men allegedly argued with a woman. The men left and came back with a firearm. The man who had the gun opened fire in the woman’s direction. Afterward, Owens allegedly took the gun from his accomplice and threatened to kill the complainant.

The complainant reported the matter to the police. The police subsequently arrested Owens. The police charged him after the complainant pointed him out during an identification parade.

His court appearance date is pending.
