St. Thomas man attempted to kill girlfriend during infidelity dispute.

Detectives in St. Thomas arrested and charged a male suspect after he allegedly attempted to kill his girlfriend during an infidelity dispute at his home in Golden Grove, St. Thomas.

The Police identified the suspect as Mario Lewis, o/c ‘Gizmo,’ age 20.

According to reporting, on July 18, at about 2:00 p.m., Lewis and his girlfriend were involved in a dispute over infidelity.

The couple started to fight, and during the mele, Lewis used a knife and inflicted a stab wound to his girlfriend’s neck.

A good samaritan alerted the Police. They transported the victim to the hospital, where the medical staff admitted her for treatment.

On August 19, 2023, the Police apprehended Lewis in Winchester District.

The Police subsequently charged the suspect.

Police charged a St. Mary taximan with murder.

Detectives in St. Mary charged a taxi operator after he allegedly chopped a fellow citizen to death during an altercation. 

The Police charged Barrington Matthews Jr., age 35, with the murder of Negus DaCosta, age 34.

According to the report, on August 16, 2023, at about 4:10 p.m., Matthews and other relatives boarded a Toyota Probox motor vehicle. They went to Oracabessa, where Matthews confronted DaCosta over an accusation that he sexually assaulted a teenage girl.

DaCosta reportedly jumped in his motor car and fled the scene. Matthews and his relatives pursued DaCosta in the Probox. The car chase ended in Eden Park, Jacks River in St. Mary, where both men locked horns. 

During the mele, Matthews chopped and injured DaCosta.

Residents alerted the Police. The Police transported the injured man to the hospital, where he died.

The Police later arrested and charged Matthews with murder following a question-and-answer session.

The Police are actively seeking the other suspects involved in the incident. 

Matthews’ court date is pending.

Police charged a 19-year-old man with sexual assault in Westmoreland.

Police in Westmoreland arrested and charged a male suspect from Savanna-la-mar after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old female child in Bath District earlier this year.

The Police identified the suspect as Richard McIntosh, age 19, a resident of Pepers Corner, Savanna-la-mar, in Westmoreland. The Police charged him with rape, assault at common law, grievous sexual assault, and unlawful detention with intent to have sexual intercourse.

According to a release from the Savanna-la-Mar Police, at about 3:00 p.m. on July 15, 2023, the suspect held a knife to the victim’s throat, pulled her into a yard in Bath District, and sexually assaulted her. 

The child made a report to the Police, and the Police activated an investigation.

On Sunday, July 16, 2023, the Police arrested McIntosh during an operation in Bath, Savanna-la-mar, Westmoreland. On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, the victim pointed out the suspect on a video identification parade. The Police subsequently charged the suspect.

His court date is pending.
