The suspect allegedly gunned down a suspended police officer during a robbery on Barnett Street. This incident occurred on Monday, June 16, 2025. Police officers in Clarendon have arrested and charged two suspects with possession of a prohibited weapon. The police made the arrests on Saturday, June 28, in Effortville, May Pen, after the seizure of an imitation firearm. Also, on Friday, June 27, 2025, police in St. James, Jamaica, reportedly arrested two suspects after seizing two firearms in Norwood. Norwood is located in an area of Montego Bay that the authorities have declared a Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO).

Authorities said the deadly shootout unfolded at 11:10 p.m., and the suspect remains unidentified.

According to reports, a police team received a hot tip. They went to a premises in Brook Valley. They were in search of armed hoodlums.

Upon arrival, law enforcement reportedly encountered two armed men along a gully bank. The cops called out to the gunmen, and they opened fire on the security forces.

As a result, the police returned fire, and a gun battle ensued.

The police shot and wounded one of the suspects during the exchange of bullets. They recovered a firearm with several rounds.

The other suspect reportedly escaped into a hill nearby.

Hospital authorities pronounced the injured suspect dead on arrival.

The Independent Commission of Investigations is probing the deadly shootout.

Also, Early Friday morning, April 18, 2025, the security forces in Jamaica fatally wounded a suspect during an alleged shootout. The deadly shooting unfolded on Smith Avenue in Old Harbor, St Catherine.

Authorities have identified the deceased as Oshane Rowe. He was known as ‘Daddy 1’ and ‘Gov’. He was a former resident of the Smith Avenue community.

According to information received, at approximately 4:50 a.m., police officers assigned to the Old Harbor Police Station conducted an operation on Smith Avenue.

During the operation, the team of officers entered a property. They knocked on the door of a house. But, no one responded.

As a result, the police, proceeded to forcibly enter the premises.

When the officers entered the house, they allegedly saw Rowe holding a firearm.

Rowe reportedly ran into a bedroom and pointed the weapon at the officers. The police stated that they took evasive action and fired at Rowe, resulting in a deadly shootout.

When the shooting stopped, police found Rowe on the floor, suffering from gunshot wounds and reportedly clutching a pistol. The officers quickly transported him to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
