Police Shootout: Murder Suspect Killed in St Catherine. The Police fatally wounded a man wanted by the St. Andrew North Police during an alleged shootout in St Catherine early Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025.

Law enforcement identified the deceased as Keith Newman, o/c ‘Neeko,’ of an Airy Castle address in Stony Hill, St. Andrew.

The Police said ‘Neeko’ was on their wanted list for at least three murders. These included the fatal shooting of two teenage boys in December 2024.

Law enforcement said Newman met his demise at about 3:40 a.m. during a shootout in a section of March Pen, Spanish Town, known as Ghetto.

The authorities identified Newman as a suspect in the murders of 16-year-old Niquan Whitely and 14-year-old Jumaane Henry on December 12, 2024. Newman allegedly shot the boys along Airy Castle Road in Stony Hill.

Police Shootout. Investigators said Newman was a prime suspect in the murder of Adrian Hinds. He is also known as ‘Shoppy.’ The murder occurred on October 12, 2024, in Stony Hill.

Furthermore, the police were looking for Newman concerning a shooting incident that occurred near Long Lane, close to Red Gyal Ring in St. Andrew, on February 10, 2025.

The Police noted that Newman’s arch-rival was Orville ‘Marvin’ Dennie. He was also wanted for murder. A police team shot and killed him on February 11 in St. Thomas.

Police shootout. The Police believe the deaths of Dennie and Newman have affected the gang warfare. This violence has affected the Stony Hill community in St. Andrew for several months.

According to a media report, the taxi operator was traveling along Fairfield Road. Two men reportedly waved down the cab. They requested that the driver take them to Spanish Town.

After entering the vehicle, the men brandished guns and demanded that the driver take them to Red Pond instead.

The taxi operator refused the men’s request, turned off the vehicle, and jumped out.

The gunmen chased the driver and fired several shots at him, hitting him in the arm.

The taxi operator successfully avoided his attackers, preventing any additional harm.

The driver was courageous despite his injuries. He managed to return to his vehicle. Then, he drove himself to the Spanish Town Hospital. After arriving there, the authorities admitted him.

The Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch has launched a probe into the incident.
