Crime and Violence Report: Two died, and one was Seriously Injured. Law enforcement reported that a 40-year-old Jamaica Defense Force corporal is under investigation. This follows the accidental shooting of his girlfriend on Crescent Road in Kingston 10 on Monday evening, February 17, 2025.
Hospital authorities admitted the 25-year-old victim. She remains in the hospital.
Crime and Violence Report. According to reports, around 6:30 p.m., the soldier and his girlfriend were at the location when an argument developed.
The argument escalated, and the woman reportedly threw stones and bottles at her boyfriend. The soldier allegedly pulled his license firearm out of fear for his life.
Further reports indicated that the lawman slipped during the incident. He accidentally discharged a round from the weapon. The discharge hit his girlfriend in the leg.
Crime and Violence Report. The woman suffered an injury and was taken to the hospital. She is receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to her right leg.
The police stated that they were conducting an ongoing investigation.
Crime and Violence Report: Portland recorded back-to-back murders
The parish of Portland recorded two murders over the weekend. This raised its homicide count to three since the beginning of the year.

Crime and Violence Report. According to the police, the first incident occurred late Sunday evening in the Windsor Forest community. Two Haitian male nationals reportedly got into a fight at a bar.

Residents rushed the injured man to the Port Antonio Hospital for urgent care. Sadly, he passed away on Monday morning, February 17, 2025, while undergoing treatment.
The police said the second incident reportedly occurred Monday afternoon at a garage on Folly Road in Port Antonio.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., Oshane Reid, a mechanic, was repairing a vehicle. A man posing as a customer approached him to ask about a used bumper for a Toyota Axio.
Crime and Violence Report. Moments later, fellow workers heard loud explosions and found Reid lying face down, bleeding from his upper body.
They rushed the injured man to the Port Antonio Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
The alleged shooter reportedly escaped on foot into the community.
Portland, once considered the safest parish on the island, is now behind Manchester, St. Elizabeth, and Trelawny, where either one or no murders have been recorded so far this year.
