Crime and Violence, Jamaica–The St Catherine South law enforcement officers’ quick action prevented what could have been a possible bloodshed yesterday morning, January 15, 2023. The home of a businessman was shot up and set ablaze in Succaba Pen in Old Harbour.
Thankfully the police arrive on time. And rescued the businessman. He was unhurt.
Law enforcement officers have launched an investigation into the suspected case of arson and shooting.
According to reports, it was about 12:15 am, Sunday morning, January 15, 2023, when a loud noise outside the businessman’s house awoke him. He got up and saw smoke coming through his bedroom window. He made checks and realized that a section of the living room and verandah was on fire. Then he heard explosions like gunshots and could not leave the burning building.
The businessman called the police, who arrived and rescued him from the house.
No motive has been established for the attack.
West Kingston–Jamaica
The Police reported that at about 12:50 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2023, 37-year-old Nico Francis o/c Frassman, a shopkeeper from Bustamante Highway in Tivoli Gardens, was sitting along a sidewalk grooming his hair. When men traveling in a white Toyota Axio motor car pounced upon him. And opened gunfire hitting him in the upper body, and sped off in the Industrial Terrace direction.
About five minutes earlier, Abbott Pennycooke o/c Foota Lee, a vendor from Craig Town, was shot and killed by shooters on Orange Street. The Police said both killings were unrelated.
