Law enforcement officers shot and injured a man during an alleged shootout with the police in a section of March Road called Africa in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Friday, September 1,2023.

According to reporting at about 6 a.m., acting on intelligence, members of a police party went into the community. The police confronted a man who was allegedly armed with a firearm.
The suspect ran, and the police pursued him into a house. A shootout followed. At the end of the shooting, the police found the suspect suffering from gunshot wounds.
The police recovered one Springfield Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with a magazine containing two cartridges.
The police arrested the suspect on suspicion of possessing a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition and shooting with intent.
The suspect is currently in the hospital under police guard.
The Independent Commission of Investigations has launched a probe into the matter.
An Early morning crash in St. Mary left two dead and one injured.
ST MARY, Jamaica — Two men died, and one woman was injured early Friday morning in a one-vehicle crash along the Annotto Bay to Coleraine main road in St Mary.

According to law enforcement officers, the incident happened at about 2:00 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2023.
The driver of a Toyota Mark X motor car lost control as he traveled to Port Maria on the Coleraine Main. The vehicle reportedly crashed into the Wag Water River.
The police identified the injured female passenger as Chantal Forbes, age 27, a customer care representative from Kingston. A good Samaritan motorist drove her to the Annotto Bay Hospital.
Divers from the Coleraine community retrieved the bodies of the deceased men from the water. They are yet to be identified.
Police charged ‘Rasta Mouse’ after gun and ammo seizure at his Gregory Park home.
On Thursday, August 31, 2023, detectives in St. Catherine charged a suspect after finding a firearm and ammunition at his house in Gregory Park.

The police charged Jason McKenzie, o/c ‘Rasta Mouse,’ age 34, a resident of Baptiste Road, Gregory Park, St Catherine, with a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to the Portmore police, at about 6:30 a.m., law enforcement officers conducted an operation in the community. They searched McKenzie’s house along Baptiste Road in Gregory Park, St Catherine.
One .38 revolver containing five .38 cartridges was found wrapped in a handkerchief under McKenzie’s bed.
The police subsequently arrested and charged McKenzie.
His court date is being arranged.
