Latest Crime News. The St Catherine South Police have launched a search for suspects responsible for the fatal shooting of a pastor. The brutal shooting unfolded at his home in Portmore on Saturday night, February 1, 2025.

Law enforcement identified the deceased as Clinton Smith, 77. He was a bishop and a Justice of the Peace from Mitchell Close in Portmore Gardens.

According to reports, at about 7:30 p.m., residents heard explosions coming from Smith’s house.

Concerned residents made checks and later found Smith suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

The Police responded and transported pastor Smith to the Spanish Town Hospital, where the medical staff pronounced him dead.

Investigators have yet to prove a motive for the shooting.

The Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating the latest crime news.

Law enforcement identified the suspect as Lamar Myers, o/c ‘Duppy Maker,’ 27, a construction worker from Burke Road, Old Harbor.

Investigators charged Myers with murder. They also charged him with possession of a prohibited weapon. He faced charges of unauthorized possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony.

The Old Harbor Police said on January 18, 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., Pastor Michael Spencer, 41, of Dolphin Terrace, Old Harbor Glades, St. Catherine, was at his stall along West Street in Old Harbor.

Myers reportedly confronted Spencer. He brandished a firearm and shot him. The shots struck Spencer in the upper body and head. Myers then fled the scene.

Law enforcement responded and transported Spencer to the hospital, where the medical staff pronounced him dead.

Latest Crime News. Detectives from the Old Harbor CIB launched an investigation and listed Myers as wanted. Two days later, he surrendered to the Police.

The authorities later charged him after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court appearance date is pending.

Latest Crime News. Detectives from the St Andrew North Police Division have charged a man. He allegedly deceived another individual into accepting counterfeit US dollars.

The authorities identified the suspect as Damion Harvey, 36, a vendor from New Harbor Village, Old Harbor, St Catherine.

Law enforcement charged him with larceny by trick.

The Constant Spring Police reported that Harvey visited a black market US dollar exchange. He requested to convert US$4,000 into JMD 580,000. The complainant agreed.

Then, Harvey allegedly colluded with another individual. They provided the complainant with a combination of real and counterfeit US dollars. This act misled him and took his money.

The victim filed a report at the Constant Spring CIB, and investigators launched an investigation.

On Monday, January 27, law enforcement apprehended Harvey in May Pen, Clarendon.

Detectives formally charged him on Friday, January 31, following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is pending.
