Hanover, Jamaica: Police Killed Gang Leader and Accomplices. A reputed gang leader and two other suspects met their demise in Hanover on Wednesday during a fierce gun battle with the police.

Police officials said the unfortunate gun battle occurred along the Mosquito Cove Main Road, in Hanover, Jamaica.

Reports are that at about 5:35 p.m., the Area 1 Fugitive Apprehension Team (AFAT) conducted a traffic stop along the Mosquito Cove Main Road in Hanover, Jamaica.

The team signaled the driver of a dark-colored Toyota Voxy motorcar to stop. The driver complied, and four men armed with guns exited the vehicle and allegedly opened fire at the police.

Reportedly, law enforcement took evasive action and returned the fire, and a running gun battle ensued.

When the shooting ceased, the police found three of four attackers suffering from gunshot wounds. A fourth attacker managed to escape. Law enforcement recovered two firearms from the scene.

Officers swiftly transported the wounded men to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced them dead on arrival.

Law enforcement officials identified one of the deceased as Clive Lawson, o/c ‘Greedy,’ from Mount Salem in Saint James.

The police said Lawson reportedly led the Katon Defense Force (KDF) gang, which operates in the Mount Salem area.

He was also a suspect in a recent gun attack on Campbell Lane, St James during which one man died. Several houses were also set on fire.

The management team of Police Area 1–Westmoreland, Hanover, St James, and Trelawny said it is committed to the safety of the communities.

Further, the team assured the public that operations targeting wanted individuals and violence producers are ongoing, demonstrating their continuous commitment to safety.

Hanover Police also charged a suspect in connection with a shooting incident on Barnes Lane on Sept. 20, 2024.

Officials named the accused Adam Williams, 32, from Sandy Bay, in Hanover, Jamaica.

Members of the securities forces killed a gang leader and two accomplices in Hanover, Jamaica.

Detectives charged Williams with shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony.

According to the Lucea police, at approximately 7:20 AM on the day of the incident, Williams and accomplices allegedly approached two men walking along Barnes Lane.

Moments later, the group opened gunfire on the two men, who scampered away unhurt.

Then, the men reported the incident to the police.

Following an investigation, police identified Williams as a suspect and arrested him at his home on Nov. 2. The police formally charged him after a question-and-session.

Williams’ court date is pending.
