Break-in: Cops probe Robbery of Shotgun and $4.5 Million. Detectives from the St. Andrew North Division in Jamaica have launched an investigation into a break-in and robbery of $4.5 million. The incident occurred Sunday night, July 13, at a Fesco gas station and Western Union outlet in Rock Hall, St. Andrew.
According to reports, management secured the establishment after closing on Sunday night. When a member of staff arrived for work early Monday morning, they discovered that somebody had broken into the premises.
Investigators reported that the robbers gained entry by smashing the glass door at the establishment’s entrance.
The police theorized that the break-in occurred between closing time Sunday night and 6:00 a.m. Monday morning.
Meanwhile, preliminary reports show that the robbers stole more than $4.5 million from the location.
The St Andrew North Police Division is leading the investigation. It has seen a 200 percent increase in break-ins since the beginning of the year.
According to police statistics, there have been 75 reported break-ins as of July 12. This is compared to 25 during the same period last year. This marks a 50% increase in incidents.
Thieves stole a licensed shotgun in a Hanover house break-in
Detectives in Hanover, Jamaica, are investigating the theft of a licensed shotgun from a safe. The incident occurred during a house break-in at a residence in a gated community in Hopewell, Hanover.
According to the police, the firearm is a black Benelli M2 shotgun with its serial number intact. It was stolen sometime between 6:15 p.m. on July 11 and 6:36 p.m. on July 12.
The owner filed the report with the police on July 13, 2025.
According to reports, the owner had securely stored the weapon in a safe before the break-in.
Still, the police have yet to prove the circumstances surrounding the burglary and how the safe was accessed.
This incident adds to growing concerns about firearm security. Data from the latest Economic and Social Survey of Jamaica shows a worrying trend. One hundred and nine guns and 2,001 rounds of ammunition were stolen from licensed firearm holders. This dangerous trend occurred over the two-year period of 2023 and 2024.
The Lucea Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating the case. They asked anyone with information to contact the Lucea police or Crime Stop at 311.
