Police Raids: Two Guns Seized and Several Suspects Arrested. On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, law enforcement seized two illegal firearms. They detained multiple suspects during a series of targeted police raids. The security forces conducted the raids at several locations in the St. Andrew North Division.
In the first police raid, law enforcement officers recovered a Springfield Armory Hellcat nine-millimeter pistol. They also found several rounds of ammunition. This happened while searching a premises on Grant’s Pen Drive in Grants Pen.
The police took one man into custody in connection with this seizure.
Later that day, a .22 pistol was found at a property on Manor Drive in Cassava Piece. The police arrested a suspect in connection with that seizure.
According to the Star, several individuals were also detained during the police raids and are being processed.
The St. Andrew will continue to conduct raids to rid the division of guns and gangs
Superintendent Randy Sweeney, head of the division, stated that the police are intensifying efforts. They aim to rid the area of guns, gangs, and wanted individuals through the use of effective police raids.
“We are working towards a safer division,” Sweeney said. “We continue to urge members of the public to share information. Their help can remove illegal weapons from our streets.”
Since the beginning of the year, more than a dozen illegal firearms have been seized in the St. Andrew North Division due to police raids.
Besides, the police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two men wanted for murder. They are Carl Sergeant, also known as Blackie or Blacks, and Chevoy Hylton, also known as Joey. The police said both men are residents of Golden Spring, in St. Andrew.
