Fatal Police Shootout: Hanover Abduction Suspect Shot

Manchester Police Division has a new Operations Officer who is determined to curb escalations in crime and violence in the parish. On Friday, the authorities launched Operation Reset in Mandeville and Porus. As a result, the police charged eight individuals with breaches of the Fraudulent Conversion Special Provisions Act. Also, they charged one person with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Fatal Police Shootout: Hanover Abduction Suspect Shot. The third suspect involved in the May 8 abduction of a teacher in Pell River, Hanover, Jamaica, was fatally wounded by members of the security forces on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Law enforcement identified the deceased as 38-year-old Omar Johnson from Ginger Hill, Hanover.

According to reports, at about 9:45 p.m. on May 14, police officers conducted an operation in Pell River, Hanover.

During the operation, officers targeted Omar Johnson, and a fatal police shootout resulted

The police shot and injured Johnson. They allegedly recovered a 9mm pistol at the scene. The pistol contained six rounds of ammunition.

The officers swiftly transported Johnson to the hospital, but it was too late to save him.

Hospital officials pronounced him dead on arrival.

The police said Johnson was one of three men involved in the abduction of a teacher on May 8, 2025.

The men allegedly removed the teacher from her vehicle during that incident. They took her to another location within the community. Fortunately, the police rescued her the same day.

During the rescue operation on May 8, 2025, the police fatally wounded two other men. They were identified as 21-year-old Kevin Gordon and 27-year-old Christopher Williams.

Johnson had escaped and eluded the police until Wednesday, May 14, 2025, when he died in a fatal police shootout.

Law enforcement officials have reported the fatal police shootout to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM). They have also reported it to the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB).

Law enforcement officials reported that the fatal police shootout occurred on Rose Lane in Hannah Town, Kingston. They allegedly recovered a firearm from the scene of the incident.

The authorities have referred the fatal police shootout to the Inspectorate and the Professional Standards Oversight Bureau. Also, they referred the case to the Independent Commission of Investigations.

Law enforcement had featured Leslie on ‘Wanted Wednesday’ in connection with a case involving shooting with intent.
