Investigators from the Savanna-la-Mar police department disclosed that on August 12, 2023, at about 3:30 p.m., Calder-Whittingham, her partner, and Smith broke into a verbal dispute in the Paradise district.

During the dispute, Smith allegedly threw rum bottles at the couple, hitting them multiple times and injuring them.
