According to media reporting, the daylight attack on the Beryllium guards at the Scotiabank in Mandeville on Friday, 25, 2023, maybe the work of a large criminal outfit operating in several parishes.

On Saturday morning, August 26, 2023, the police arrested a 26-year-old suspect they believed was the getaway driver in the heist during an operation along the Four Paths Main Road.

During the operation, the police seized several rounds of ammunition and a ski mask. They also seized the car the suspect was driving. 

According to reports, the suspected bank robber drove along the Four Paths main road in Clarendon when the police stopped him.

Reportedly, the car the suspect was operating had two different license plates.

During a vehicle search, the police found 27 assorted rounds of ammunition along with JM $1,000 and several traffic tickets.

Citizens found two brothers shot to death in St Catherine.

 ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – On Saturday, August 26, 2023, citizens in the Bell Heights section of Gorden Pen, Spanish Town in St. Catherine, found the bodies of two brothers gunned down by unknown assailants.

The police identified the deceased men as Devon McKenzie, o/c ‘Chucky,’ age 32, and Ria Robinson, o/c ‘Rio,’ age 23, both late residents of the Bell Heights community. 

According to reporting, at about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023, family members heard loud explosions, which prompted them to check their surroundings.

During a search, family members saw the brothers lying in separate beds inside a one-room dwelling, with multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies.

The police processed the scene and removed the bodies to the morgue.

The police did not give a motive for the shooting.

Police charged a suspect with the murder of a Westmoreland woman.

Detectives out West arrested and charged a male suspect following allegations that he killed 30-year-old Shantal Calder-Whittingham, o/c ‘Pokie,’ of Brighton district, Little London, Westmoreland, on August 12, 2023.

The police identified the suspect as Odain Barron, o/c ‘Bududup’ or ‘Indian,’ a laborer of Coolie Town district, Paradise, Westmoreland. The police charged him with murder and multiple breaches of the Firearms Act.

The Savanna-la-Mar police say at about 3:30 p.m., on August 12, 2023, Calder-Whittingham and some of her relatives were getting ready to leave home when four armed men, including Barron, with whom the family had a dispute, approached them and opened gunfire, hitting Calder-Wittingham and her family before escaping.

Concerned citizens alerted the police. Upon arrival, the police found Calder-Whittingham and her relatives lying in a pool of blood along the roadway.

The police transported the victims to the hospital, where Calder-Whittingham died.
